AST - Industry Firsts

1989

AST was established in Coventry by Managing Director David Stevens, to provide a specialist electroplating service to the automotive industry.

1994

AST achieved BS EN ISO 9002 - Certificate Number FM30364.

1996

AST becomes the first sub-contract electro-plater to commission and totally dedicate a fully automatic plant for Zinc-Nickel.

1997

AST becomes the first electro plater in the UK to achieve VDA6 Certification from the VW Group for Zinc Alloys.
First sub-contract Electro Plater to include bar-coding on the plant computer programme to facilitate production control and traceability.

1998

The first company in Europe to introduce a neutral Tin-Zinc process (ASTEC 2000) and dedicate an automatic plant to this finish and the first in its field to achieve QS9000 approval.

1999

AST becomes the first electro plating company to be selected for the DTI’s “Inside UK Enterprise Programme”.

2000

AST accredited under the Investors in People programme.
AST introduces its own brand name for Zinc-Alloys - The ASTEC brand.

2001 Installed two new lines (acquired from AP Hydraulics) and expanded to adjacent site.
2003 Installed new Barrel line for plating of small components such as rivets and fasteners.
2004

AST achieved the quality standard ISO/TS16949:2002 and the environmental standard ISO 14001.

AST - Totally dedicate a fully automatic plant for Zinc-Nickel.
